Pirates

Description

The main difference about pirates with their slaver and raider counterparts is that they at least hold some sort of a code of honor. Though in the recent years, those few 'true' pirates have begun to give up, as a far more aggressive an newer form of piracy begins to take over the Free colonies. At one time, these rogue fleets united together and with their raider and slaver counterparts to establish their own 'Rogue Nation'. At their peak they had a territory of about 1/8 of the free colonies. However it was short lived when finally, after the nations in unison removed the Rogue Nation from the free colonies in early 2773. Some Pirates, raiders, and slavers still exist out there, feeding the small portion of the black market and their own goals, but it would never recover to what it once was. Forever declawed and disorganized.

In February of 2773, after a long painful war with the confederacy, seeing much victory with their hit and run tactics and seeing large quantities of territory gain, the Pirates were hit ahrd by the Terran 1st Fleet under the command of Vice Admiral Kochenk of the Terran Federation Grand Navy which initiated their downfall. With the main forces of the confederate armies in a defensive line, and refusing to attack out of fear of risking too high casualties, the Terran Federation saw this as the perfect and opportune time to both gain massive amounts of land, and become heroes in the eyes of the free colonies as liberators and the ones who brought the end to the Pirate scourge. It was a power play that grabbed dozens and dozens of former confederate colonies that were captured by the Pirate nation and now into Terran hands. What made it worse is the large and expensive Fort Williamsburg which was a crushing defeat for the confederates, now ended up in the hands of the Federation. Right on their front door.

However the Rogue nation was not brought down by Terra alone, but a joint offensive, all launched around the same time. The forces of the confederate member colonies the RSC and Rostporova stood their ground, while surrounded, managing to not only hold the line, but reclaim dozens of systems under pirate control. The Forces of the Hisperian Commonwealth with Trident mercenaries and it's fleet combined efforts to strike at the heart of the Raider's territory while the majority of their fleets were occupied fighting the RSC or the Terrans; which resulted in a decisive victory cutting the head off the snake, and removing one of the largest fortified centers of retreat for any fleets trying to flee from the Terrans. And Lastly the fleet of the New Staevik Republic, a small vassal state created by the Federation for Staevik military and citizens who fled when the union rose, attacking the last main stronghold on the colony Kelsa Prime.

The unified rogue nation of Pirates, Raiders, Smugglers, thieves, and slavers lasted just under a year before it's untimely and early demise. Those who survived went into hiding at the few bastions still standing for scum, or turned themselves in, after amnesty was granted by nations such as the Hisperian Commonwealth and the Terran Federation, who after seeing the commonwealth grant amnesty, developed their own ideas for pirates seeking to come peacefully.

The Terrans would eventually repurpose the Pirates who surrendered into a Privateer force. Seeing as they were already skilled pilots and good at naval combat, they saw it as an opportunity that shouldn't go to waste. Xenon has plenty to loot. And creating such a renegade an effecient force could prove useful in the war to come
